TaskMap® Version 2 Features and benefits

TaskMap® Version 2 is now available! TaskMap Version 2 represents more than 18 months of research, experience and input from thousands of existing and prospective customers. Version 2 implements many exciting ideas and provides a number of compelling reasons to upgrade today see the details below:

Feature Application Benefits
User-defined time units   Users can select any time unit from seconds to weeks for Tasks and Task Links.   Improved accuracy and flexibility for recording and analyzing time.
Dramatically simplified hyperlink creation Brand new hyperlink definition feature for internal and external linking. Greater productivity because creating hyperlinks inside TaskMaps and to external objects is faster and easier.
Dynamic hyperlinks for Process Connectors Hyperlinks between Process Connectors and target Tasks are automatically updated if the target Task is renumbered, i.e., the text inside the Process Connector and the underlying hyperlink are dynamically updated. Increased quality assurance for linking processes. Greater integrity of process information.
Separate hyperlinks for Task and Sub-process Task ID Sub-process Task ID is now separately selectable and can be hyperlinked independently from the Task itself. Greater flexibility to apply hyperlinks to Tasks; simplified “drill-down” to sub-process details.
Dynamic hyperlinks for Sub-process Task IDs Hyperlinks between Sub-process Task IDs and target Tasks are automatically updated if the target Task is renumbered, i.e., the text of the Sub-process Task ID and the underlying hyperlink are dynamically updated. Increased quality assurance for linking processes. Greater integrity of process information.
Time totaling reports Automated time totaling is included for: selected shapes, all shapes on a page or all shapes in a drawing. Ability to easily analyze existing TaskMaps for time and time-related performance.
Four supporting roles for Task shape Additional roles can be added to Tasks that require up to four supporting roles Tasks can be defined in greater detail, especially when larger groups of people are involved.
Global find and replace Any text element in a TaskMap can be located and replaced Increased productivity. Permits global changes to processes and procedures to be made without extensive manual editing.
Notes indicator Allows users to visually identify Tasks that contain notes. In addition, the contents of the Note will be displayed when the cursor is positioned over the notes indicator. Improved communication. Additional relevant information about Tasks can be distributed amongst authors, reviewers and final recipients.
Visualization changes to the Task shape Easier to identify hyperlink symbol, improved text sizing and reduced inter-line spacing for Guidelines, Resources and Supporting Roles. Improved visual presentation of Task shape information; enhanced communication of process information to users of process maps.
Visualization changes to the Task Link shape Using a TaskMap toolbar option, users can suppress display of both Task Link description and zero-value Task Completion Times.
Improved appearance of maps via enhanced visualization options; enhanced communication of process information to users of process maps.
New templates New TaskMap templates for A4 paper, A3-sized maps that print on A4 paper and 10"x13" maps that print on 8½"x11" paper, in addition to the current 8½"x11" template. Improved productivity for customers using ISO paper sizes, and ability to fit more shapes on a single page with automatic size reduction for printing.
More pre-defined frequencies plus new user-defined task frequencies Expanded list of standard Task frequencies, all with customizable abbreviations; in addition, users can define their own unique frequencies. Increased flexibility for determining frequency requirements and for frequency display.
Expanded Task IDs Allows entry of up to four-character page identifiers, which in turn allows Task ID to begin with four characters (followed by the two digit sequence number). Increased flexibility and creativity in assigning page and Task identifiers. Allows Task IDs such as: DABC01, AB-101, Acct01, Mkt-02, A-R05, etc.
Time stamp feature (in release 2.1) Keep track of the last time that a TaskMap was edited and saved by using the "Last Save Date/Time" from the Visio Insert menu; This field can be added to most Visio shapes. Allows improved control of when the last published version of a TaskMap was created and released.
